Overview

A Day in the Valley is an NDIS program that offers young people the opportunity to engage in nature-based activities in the Huon Valley, promoting social interaction, skill development, and wellbeing. Participants receive individualised support from a dedicated 1:1 support worker, ensuring personalised care within a group setting. Every Thursday the group will head out on a different outdoor adventure in the Valley.

Why

We believe every young person deserves opportunities to explore, grow, and thrive. This program was inspired by a family who shared their hope for their child to experience the things they love—hiking, kayaking and adventuring, whilst connecting with similar peers in a supportive and inclusive way. They expressed how difficult it was to find programs that not only understood their child's unique needs but also celebrated their strengths.

Hiking, Beach visits, Kayaking, Exploring caves, Forest walks, Stand-up paddleboarding, Fishing, Bike riding, Bonfires, Swimming, Waterfall visits, Snow play

We wish to acknowledge and respect the traditional custodians of the land we are on today, the palawa/pakana (Tasmanian Aboriginal) people. We recognize their continuing connection to land, water, and community, and pay our respects to elders past, present, and emerging. We acknowledge the deep cultural significance of these lands for the Aboriginal community here in Tasmania.Through this acknowledgement, we express our gratitude for the opportunity to gather and share knowledge on this Country. We also commit to learning about the history, culture, and contributions of Tasmania's First Peoples and to fostering an environment of respect, unity, and recognition
